A Leap of Faith
It's time for a shift, can you feel that? Just those words have a way of twisting something up inside of you. That thing you've been thinking about but the task seems daunting, the shift you want to make in your life but don't know how to start or where to go from here. It seems most of us are waiting for the future to make a change. We feel the pull, we hear the call but for whatever reason it may be, we are not quite ready to take the leap.
In Hindu mythology, Hanuman is a prominent figure widely revered for his unwavering devotion and loyalty to Lord Rama. He is celebrated for his extraordinary strength, courage, and selflessness, making him a symbol of devotion, faith, and perseverance. There is a story of Hanuman in which he represents taking a great leap of faith. In the story, Hanuman, the monkey God, leaps across the ocean of Lanka to find and rescue Sita, Lord Rama's wife, who had been kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. Hanuman had no way of knowing that the leap he took would get him all the way across the ocean, but at the same time, he knew it would take him where he needed to go. He surrendered the outcome and just did the thing!
This might all be a lot for you, a monkey taking a leap across the ocean to save a Goddess who has been trapped by a demon king. I get that. But these stories we read, listen to, and learn are all very similar to the stories of our lives. It seems to all be replaying over and over again in new ways and with new circumstances.
So just like in the story of Hanuman, maybe you find yourself in a predicament at the moment. The thing about Hanuman is, he doesn't waver. He does what he has to do when it needs to be done. Hanuman's leap across the ocean is often interpreted as an act of absolute devotion and faith in the divine. What if we had that much trust?
The way I see it is every single one of us breathing, eating, living, and dancing in this life and on this planet is a part of her {Nature}. We take in the air, we eat the food, we absorb the sun. We come from this cosmic existence. Like a leaf is a part of a tree or a drop of water is a part of the ocean, there is no separation between you, me, and the divine. So what if we all had that type of faith that is represented in the story of Hanuman.
What if we were entirely devoted to living a life that supported our truth and growth to the point in which we took action and listened to those inner callings. Why do we spend so much time fighting and resisting when life is calling us to grow, learn, and leap! What are we afraid of? Turns out, a lot. We are afraid to fail, afraid to change, afraid of not getting others' approval. Maybe all of these feelings have become normal for us at this point, but that does not mean it's natural. Nature wants you to shine, to grow, and to thrive. If you and I are as much a part of nature as the flower that buds through the thick dark soil of the earth reaching towards the light, then I believe you and I are meant to do that same thing. We are meant to push through the hard dark times to honor the cycles of growth, life, and death and to really learn to trust so that we can take those leaps of faith, like Hanuman! So, what are you waiting for? What is the thing that has been calling to you, sometimes quietly and sometimes so loud you're unable to ignore it. What if you had faith and weren't trapped by fear.
Remember she {Nature} wants you to thrive, to live, to grow, and to reach toward that light.
